Full description
During the late Bronze Age the city of Mycenae was a hugely important city in ancient Greece, this day trip from Athens will give you the opportunity to explore this wonder of the ancient world. Driving along the scenic coastal road of the Saronic Gulf, you will make your way to Mycenae. Mycenae is the historical setting for much of ancient Greek literature, including the works of the poet Homer. Here you will visit the archeological site, home to the Lionesses Gate, and the tomb of King Agamemnon. Continuing on we will make a short stop in Nauplia, the first capital of modern Greece and home to the fortress of Palamidi. After enjoying a relaxing lunch you will continue on to the final stop. The city of Epidaurus, home to the World Heritage listed ancient theatre and believed by ancient Greeks to be the birthplace of Apollo’s son Asklepios. The theatre at Epidaurus is perhaps the best preserved theatre of ancient Greece, and is still used today due to its amazing acoustics.

Effi is a great guide, she provided good knowledge about the sites and warm welcoming :) Nikos also drove smoothly along the roads, that was pretty cool. The bus was climatized and fresh. The only one bad point is that we didn't have so much time to visit the museum of Mycenae, which gathers a collection of amazing gold treasures. The theater in Epidavros was impressive! Overall, it was a good trip

It was an excellent tour. The bus was very comfortable, the guide was very well prepared and nice, her english was very good too. The tour was organised well. The only thing that I missed that during the way back to Athens we have seen some beautiful panorama points which would worth to stop.

Our meeting place was at a nearby hotel. The group was easy to spot with the van with the logo displayed. We were a group of 9, comfortably seated in a mini bus. the drive was scenic.. I wished we could have stayed a bit longer in Nafplio town instead of having lunch in the hotel (which was 10 minutes away). Nafplio is such a quaint town, we promise to stay longer if we visit again.
