Full description
You will begin your gastronomical experience with a food tasting workshop during which you will try the basics of Greek cuisine: olive oil, Greek yogurt, and honey. All these ingredients played a significant role in the mythology and history of Greece, and have been used for thousands of years by the Greeks. You will learn about all the health benefits and nutritional information of olive oil, including facts such as methods of preservation. You will get to know what makes the Greek yogurt the most famous in the world while you mix it with nature's perfect gift, Greek honey. Following that you will try one of the most well-known snacks of Mediterranean cuisine, the famous Tyropita. This is a cheese pie which is considered to be the most beloved morning snack of all Greeks. You will then visit one of the most iconic eateries of Athens where you will feel like an Olympic champion as you try deep-fried dough balls covered in honey, also known as Greek loukoumades. They are considered the oldest recorded dessert and can be traced back to the first Olympic Games of 776 B.C., when they were served to the winners as “honey tokens". The final stop of this walking food tour is Athens' food market, a place where locals and restaurant owners alike visit in order to buy food of the highest quality in the city.

The guide was really friendly, and a great conversationalist. He also knew a lot about the local food and explained everything very well. I would definitely recommend it, 10/10 experience.
