  • Athens: Full Day Trip to Nafplio and Ancient Epidaurus

    1. Athens: Full Day Trip to Nafplio and Ancient Epidaurus

Depart Athens with a friendly escort (archaeologist) by bus from the Halandri Metro station and reach Nafplio where there are various alternative options to discover the hidden gems of the city. There is plenty of time to climb the 999 steps of the Castle of Palamidi (or let the bus drive you to it) and admire the wide view of the region along with the endless beauty of the Argolic Gulf from the top of the hill. Naflpio used to be the capital of Greece before Athens and its architecture has venetian, byzantine, ottoman and modern greek influences. Admire the main attractions like Bourtzi Castle and Acronauplia as well as the various picturesque squares in the city center. Observe the colorful venetian houses that attract your eyes with the bougainvilleas hanging flashily from the balconies. You have the chance to enrich your trip by visiting the Komboloi Museum and the distillery of Tsi...

"Bill"(if that's your real name...) was a fantastic, engaging, funny, and superbly knowledgeable guide. He's actually an archeologist with a masters degree, so his knowledge is exceptional. He was able to flow with the dynamics of the group and fluidly intersperse humor, history, mythology and science (with excellent English, all the while keeping his eyes on the road)! This tour is an absolute must and one we will never forget. He offered us the option to either sit down for lunch or do more of a 'grab and go' thing so we can keep walking around and touring. He made sure that everyone in our group was happy with the decision we made to sit down and eat. We did so many different things on this tour and felt so accomplished at the end of the day! Cannot recommend this tour group highly enough! (Their communication is also superb whether through WhatsApp emails or phone) On the 2-hour drive back we had very interesting philosophical discussions with him. Great great great!

Most enjoyable part of my solo trip to Athens, where my guide Bill (a historian + archaeologist!) was highly entertaining, informative, considerate and respectful. They continued with the trip even though I was the only participant that day, and I had the undivided attention of the guide who was well versed in greek mythology, social & cultural issues, history and geography. Highly recommended to people seeking a deeper insight and understanding to the country - a professional guide of this calibre beats any guidebook or wikipediaing or googling.

Bill was such an amazing guy and knowledgeable about everything Greek. This was a memorable experience and I hope other tours are just as wonderful as this one.

Perfect day! We very much appreciated all the destinations visited. Special thanks to Bill, our guide, really nice and knowledgeable. To redo!

Really great trip with really great tour guides. I recommend it a lot
