I started out with this experience realizing it was going to take some expense and time to get to Aquiares' La Esperanza. I even considered cancelling when I realized this. I am glad I didn't! Well worth the time and expense to get to the location. We arrived in the morning to La Esperanza and we were absolutely awestruck by this home. It's over 100 years old and has been recently updated while keeping all the charm. We enjoyed a light breakfast outside overlooking the volcano and gardens. Then our education of the town, people, company and plantation commenced. At every turn, we were enamored by the people and the educational aspect of the tour. This is what tourism should be all about. We loved it. We were a private group of four of us, and we felt like we received the VIP treatment the entire time. We saw how coffee starts out from seed, learned the educational aspects of the whole process, learned how the plantation operates, visited a national historic monument church located

We can highly recommend this tour! When we arrived our guide greeted us in front of the beautiful estate finca. While the horses were being fetched we strolled through the garden. Then it was time to go - the two of us, our guide and horse carer. The horses are tame, so even my boyfriend who doesn't have many experiences with horseback riding was doing fine. Along the way our guide talked about the estate and the coffee making. After about 30 min we made a stop for a beautiful waterfall. Unfortunately, I experienced some blood pressure problems, so we had to cut our horseback riding trip short. But everyone was very patient with me, caring, and they swiftly organized a car to fetch us. Later we managed to visit the factory and again got a perfect explanation of how things work there and tasted some good coffee! Thanks again to everyone, we enjoyed our stay very much!

This tour is a must-do when visiting Costa Rica! A little over an hour drive from the city, this scenic area is surrounded by gorgeous coffee fields. Our tour guide was super knowledgeable and gifted us with the rich history of coffee in Costa Rica. This tour comes with a breathtaking view coupled with a tantalizing breakfast and gorgeous views all around the town and even some hands-on experience with the coffee plants! Highly recommended for coffee connoisseurs and those wanting to get a memorable experience with one of Costa Rica‘s biggest economic contributors.

Very complete visit in which you learn the entire coffee process from the plant to the cup. Highly recommended, even for non-coffee lovers.
