This tour reveals some of the unique history of Northern Ireland and includes the only available crossing of the iconic Carrick a Rede rope bridge. Meeting your guide on the mainland, you will walk along the cliff path and cross the spectacular bridge, waves crashing below you. You’re about to become one of the few people who have stepped beyond this bridge to the tiny island of Carrick-a-Rede. Built in 1755, the Bridge was a pathway to a fishing industry that sustained local families for centuries. It does hang 30 metres above the sea though, so cross it if you dare (yes it's safe). Once you conquer the rope bride you can visit an old fisherman's cottage and learn the identities and stories of the men who worked and lived there. With views of the Antrim shoreline and the bay below this is the Ireland some people only see photos of: the real Emerald Isle. You will also learn about the daily catch and how to tie fishing knots. If you're hungry after all that you can enjoy a hamper made up of local produce from an array of artisan producers including chocolatiers, brewers, distillers and a few tasty surprises.
