Full description

Observe the sunset and the sunrise from Acatenango. Sleep overnight in the base camp located just in front of the Fuego volcano, facing it over an elevation of 3,700 meters above sea level. Begin with a shuttle from Antigua to La Soledad village in the morning with pickup from your hotel. Begin your hike, and climb until the sun begins to set to catch the views from high above. Sleep in the base camp overnight. On day two, rise early and take a quick hike to the summit. Take in an elevated view of the sunrise. Breakfast will be served back at base camp before the trek back toward the village.

Finally, you'll reach the village before noon. Enjoy free time to look around before the transfer to Antigua, and enjoy the rest of your day in the city.

This was one of the most rewarding and humbling experiences. Going into the Peak takes aprox 4-5 hours depending on your pace but once you are there the beauty is incomparable. We spent the night and were able to presence about five volcano eruptions through the night. Additionally, the tour guides are fantastic, knowledgeable and helpful, specially Manuel he helped me conquer the exhaustion and supported me through the hike. FYI, there are available horses if needed for extra Q700.

A physically demanding experience but so worth it! A breathtaking view at the top of the volcano! We were lucky enough to see the eruptions of the Fuego Volcano, right in front of us. Our guides, incredibly kind, supported us “morally” throughout the trek and prepared something to warm us up at the top (hot chocolate, tea/coffee, hot pankakes…) An adventure that we would do again with our eyes closed (finally wide open to enjoy the spectacular landscapes), but bring warmer clothes (especially good socks - hats, gloves and jackets can be loaned) for the night at the top.

Overall we found the experience to be quite good. The hike is very strenuous if you are not trained. It is best to have very warm clothes with you because it is freezing cold up there. The jackets can be borrowed for free before the hike. The food was delicious, but unfortunately it wasn't quite enough for us, especially the breakfast. That's why it's best to take something with you. I booked the tour in English, but there was only 1 guide who spoke some English, otherwise everyone only spoke Spanish. The volcano was very impressive.
