Corfu: Greek Cooking Class & Meal at a Local Family Home

1. Corfu: Greek Cooking Class & Meal at a Local Family Home

Shop like a local at the fruit market, and prepare traditional Greek recipes with a cooking class. Then, feast on a delicious homemade lunch in an idyllic family environment. Meet your local food expert at the Old Port and stroll through the narrow alleys to Corfu’s open market. Together with your host, buy organic products harvested from the Corfiot fields only hours before. Embrace the vibrant atmosphere, and feel the smell of fresh fish, vegetables, fruit, and herbs. Next, stop by a local's deli shop to buy milk, cheese, and bread baked in an oven. Once ready with the supplies, the host will take you to a country home where the chef will show you how to prepare and cook traditional Greek recipes using a wood oven. Enjoy some local delicacies as a welcome gift. Decide if you prefer to participate “hands-on”, or just watch the cooking preparation. Whichever your choice, spend a few relaxing hours as part of a Greek family. After the cooking class ends, experience the unique Greek hospitality and atmosphere with a delicious meal and good company, before transferring back to Corfu Town.

What people are saying about Ano Korakiana

We had such a wonderful time with George in his home at the cooking class he hosted! He picked us up from our hotel and took us on a tour of Corfu Town early in the morning when it was empty and quiet. We then went to the market to shop for our own ingredients for the cooking class! He took us to his beautiful home and we had such a fun time cooking in his outdoor kitchen. The meal was delicious! George and his staff really go out of their way to make you feel at home like a local and not like a tourist. He gave us a ton of tips on other things to see, do, and eat on the island. He made our time in Corfu so memorable and we enjoyed every second of it. I would highly recommend doing any tour with George and Corfu Outdoor & Leisure Activities! Thank you George and we hope to be back soon!

A really nice experience! Well organised, meeting point is exactly as described. On the way to the market Yorgos, the host gave us a little tour with facts about the buildings we saw. After getting ingredients at the local market we went to his house (we decided to go with our own car, because we wanted to go to the beach directly afterwards, but Yorgos also provides the possibility to take you there and bring you back. The house is located in a picturesque little Greek village surrounded by olive and cypress trees. We spent an interesting and fun day at his place with him and his lovely cook and had tasty Greek food.

A great day with George and family! I was picked up and taken to Corfu town where we shopped for ingredients for the cookery lesson and had some little tasters on the way. We then went to George’s beautiful home and prepared all the food to be eaten in his glorious outdoor kitchen. It was eaten and washed down with lovely wine . George is a very welcoming and charming guy, it was like going to a friends for dinner! If in Corfu definitely do this activity, very highly recommended.

We had a great time with George and Family. During the market tour we got to try local products and learn more about them and Corfu. Back at George’s house, we had a very enjoyable time preparing the ingredients and everyone was included. The meal was fantastic and the company was great. We would highly recommend this experience.

What a great day and experience. Living the real Greek life for a day. Our host was very nice and did everything to make the day special. Loved the fresh food, the wine and the company!!
