Corfu: Greek Cooking Class & Meal at a Local Family Home

1. Corfu: Greek Cooking Class & Meal at a Local Family Home

Shop like a local at the fruit market, and prepare traditional Greek recipes with a cooking class. Then, feast on a delicious homemade lunch in an idyllic family environment. Meet your local food expert at the Old Port and stroll through the narrow alleys to Corfu’s open market. Together with your host, buy organic products harvested from the Corfiot fields only hours before. Embrace the vibrant atmosphere, and feel the smell of fresh fish, vegetables, fruit, and herbs. Next, stop by a local's deli shop to buy milk, cheese, and bread baked in an oven. Once ready with the supplies, the host will take you to a country home, where the chef will show you how to prepare and cook traditional Greek recipes using a wood oven. Enjoy some local delicacies as a welcome gift. Either drive to the villa on your own or jump into the minivan (depending on the option you choose) and drive through the magnificent Corfiot countryside to reach the cooking class. Decide if you prefer to participate “hands-on” or just watch the cooking preparation. Whichever your choice, spend a few relaxing hours as part of a Greek family. After the cooking class ends, experience the unique Greek hospitality and atmosphere with a delicious meal and good company before driving or being transferred back to Corfu.

What people are saying about Ano Korakiana

A fantastic experience all around. George was a perfect host. There were 8 persons in our group, so we got to know one another a wee bit. The walk through the markets to purchase the vegetables and fresh feta was a lot of fun and informative. George’s country property and house are beautiful. The food preparation was hands on along side a very qualified chef. Every bite of the meal and drink of wine was thoroughly enjoyed. I would highly recommend this excursion.

What a great day. Started with a lovely walk around old Corfu Town, fish and veggie markets. George made sure you got to see the real Corfu, including some real characters along the way. Then back to his beautiful home with the most amazing views and nestled amongst his own Olive trees and vegetable garden. The food was fresh and tasty. George, his son and the chef made sure everyone was looked after. We all ate and drank well, I would highly recommend this trip.

If there’s one thing you should do in Corfu, it’s this cooking class! From the history lessons, to purchasing your own produce at the markets, to the honour of being invited into someone’s home & of course tasting the fruits of your labour. Every single aspect of this excursion is 100% worth it! Yorgos & his family have hit the nail on the head, we received a truly authentic Greek experience & left feeling like old friends. Couldn’t recommend it enough

We thoroughly enjoyed our day with George, who is exceptionally good at his role of host, guide, and chef. We were also fortunate to have a fun group which made for a lovely day. Yasou George

A wonderful experience largely due to the knowledgeable, funny and warm host. A highlight of our stay.
