Only by coming face to face with the artifacts, portraits, and paintings produced in the Dutch Golden Age can one really start understanding these days better. With this tour, you will be given a quick overview of the most important works of art displayed at the world-famous National Museum. Before you enter the museum you will be picked up at your hotel or any other central location to begin your tour with a walk through the historic city center on your way to the museum. During the 30 to 45 minutes walking tour you will see interesting monuments, ornaments, and history of Amsterdam and the Netherlands. In case walking is difficult for you this portion of the tour can be skipped and instead you will take a taxi or public transport straight to the museum. During the tour of the museum, you will get to see the variety of 17th-century Dutch art by various famous artists and impressive artifacts like Delftware, massive hardwood furniture with laid-inn ivory, mother of pearl, impressively engraved silverwork and crystal glasses, miniatures of complete interiors of 17th-century canal mansions. The aim is to introduce you into the art and history of the Netherlands and Amsterdam as its main economic, cultural and financial center in its heydays in the 1600s when it had contact, trade, and influence all over the world.
