Full description

Explore how happiness influences the health of the human body, and discover answers to other mysteries of human life at Amsterdam’s Body Worlds: The Happiness Project. This fascinating new exhibition by Dr. Gunther von Hagens features more than 200 anatomical specimens of authentic human bodies, all utilized to demonstrate the complexity, resilience, and vulnerability of the human form. A visit to the exhibition is suitable for adults and children, although the interactive show also features an adults-only exhibition in the basement. Over 40 million people from around the world have visited Body Worlds, which explores through science how happiness can affect both your body and soul. Next on the program you’ll enjoy an hour-long cruise on the UNESCO-listed canal district of Amsterdam, with the opportunity to take in many of the historic sights of the city center. Feast your eyes on the elegant merchant houses that date back to the Dutch Golden Age, the stunning gables, beautiful churches, the iconic Magere Brug (Skinny Bridge) and many other top attractions. During the cruise you can listen to recorded audio commentary in your choice of 16 languages. The boat tour offers frequent departures throughout the day, 7 days a week.

The Body Worlds exhibition and the canal tour were great, really recommendable, Amsterdam in general has a lot to offer and in my opinion a canal tour is definitely part of it. What I or we didn't like was that we couldn't go directly to the body worlds with our voucher, we first had to walk about 400 meters to the next ticket shop to pick up our tickets for body worlds and the canal tour there. This was not evident on the voucher, which you could print out in advance and which also has a QR code on it. As a result, we would not have been able to keep to our specified time window and would certainly have led to complications on busy days. We therefore had to enter a new time at the ticket shop. A bit complicated especially for the older generation and especially if you don't quite do justice to the English language. Nonetheless, a great day!

Nice and atypical museum. I recommend this tour. Visit of the canals also to be done. The captain was very nice and funny with complementary comments to the visit. Please remember to collect the tickets for the boat activity at the office which is located between the 2 visit sites, which I do not find consistent with the principle of online booking but it is not a problem.

Highly Recommended

With the Getyourguide ticket you can get to the exhibition without having to queue. In advance you have to exchange the voucher at a tourist information center 100 m away, which worked without any problems. The exhibition is spread over 6 floors and covers all areas of the body (cardiology, neurology ...). I really liked it (W18). As for the boat tour, everything went smoothly. However, this was very similar to the Hop on Hop off Tour (provider of the boat tour: Lovers Cruise), so I was a bit bored. The price was cheaper than on site (36 euros).
