Explore the wetlands of the MónNatura Delta de l’Ebre and journey through fresh water and salt water to discover the most amazing fish and birdlife. The MónNatura Delta de l’Ebre project was inaugurated in 2012 in the Tancada lagoon, and is one of the most important wetlands of western Europe. The salt, birds, and traditional fishing methods are the 3 key features, and they can all be explored with your entrance ticket. Visit the only full scale recreation of one of the Delta’s salt pans open to the public. Discover how the Delta was formed over the centuries, and experience the changing seasons throughout a typical year via an audiovisual presentation. Watch the wildlife of the Alfacada lagoon from the partially enclosed bird observatory. Telescopes are at your disposal for better views of the flamingos, terns, waders, herons and more that live and rest in the lagoon. Around the landing stage, you will see examples of traditional Delta fishing techniques, such as casting nets, dredging nets, and eel and shrimp nets. You can also go aboard the punts, the traditional means of transport in the shallow water. See wildlife such as waders, terns, avocets, and gulls in the old Sant Antoni salt pans. Explore the area’s variety of saline vegetation and how it has evolved to survive the environment.

Discover the landscapes and culture of the northern part of the Ebro Delta. Learn about the shellfishing traditions of Illa de Mar, find out all about the cultivation of rice, and keep your eyes peeled to spot the different kinds of wildlife that inhabit this place. First, head to Illa de Mar, an area situated within Fangar Bay. It's known for its shellfish and has more than a century of tradition behind it. Discover the traditional tools and boats that are used for the cultivation of mussels and oysters Enjoy the panoramic views while you're there. Admire the green filter lagoon, the fishing village of l'Ampolla, the mussel farms in the middle of the bay, and the red and white lighthouse of the Fangar Peninsula. Using binoculars, observe the wildlife resting quietly in these waters, and try to spot the star of the biosphere reserve, the flamingo. Visit the point where the Ebro finally meets the Mediterranean Sea. It's a place with great natural richness and stunning landscapes. From the Delta's highest viewpoint, known locally as 'Ziggurat', you can look out over the different ecosystems that make up the park. Throughout the tour, there are of course many rice paddies. Learn all about the peculiarities of this crop for which Ebro Delta is so well-known. The river mouth is flanked at its final stretch by Buda Island and Sant Antoni Island as well as a newly formed Garxal Lagoon. Find out about the most serious environmental problem it faces.
