2. From Amalfi: Private Sunset Cruise along the Amalfi Coast

Floating in the Mediterranean Sea, away from the posh hotels, crowded restaurants and buzzing boutiques, is where you can embark on a 2-hour excursion to take in the amazing Amalfi Coast sunset, while you lounge on the deck, munch on snacks and sip a cool beverage. This excursion cruises you into the sunset scene of the coastline - a quiet and relaxed atmosphere where you can enjoy the sights, salty sea air and bright colors. The captain will pick you up from the village of your choice on the coastline (Maiori, Minori, Amalfi, Praiano, Positano or any village in between) and take you along the coast, stopping to swim if you would like to along the way. You will cruise in the direction of the Isle of Capri, stopping at Li Galli private islands and underwater nature reserve. This is one of the best places for a first-class view of both Positano and the sun setting behind Capri.  Floating on a boat in total comfort, it's hard not to be inspired. Where the villages climb up the mountainside, the colors of the sunset reflect off of the Mediterranean Sea, music plays on the stereo and fish (and dolphins if you're lucky) jump every so often around the boat.  It's an evening not to be missed.

Amalfi: Amalfi Coast Sunset Boat Tour with Snorkeling

5. Amalfi: Amalfi Coast Sunset Boat Tour with Snorkeling

Experience the enchantment of Italy with a boat tour of the stunning maritime landscape of the Amalfi Coast as the sun sets over the horizon. Marvel at the ancient rock formations, hidden beaches, and secret coves that adorn the coast from Amalfi to Positano. Once everybody has jumped on board and had a little briefing about how we're going to spend the sunset hours, we will be ready to set off to the west towards Praiano. The route will take us along Amalfi Coast’s finest beaches as well as close to natural rock arches and into sea caves, giving us the opportunity to admire the old watch towers that dot the entire length of this coast. We will pause at beaches reachable only by sea and have time to go snorkeling or swimming in crystal-clear waters. Not too far from the starting point, right after leaving the center of Amalfi, we will get close to the Saint Andrew Grotto, a huge natural sea cave full of stalactites named after the patron saint of Amalfi (Andrea). Then, once passed Duoglio and Santa Croce beaches, we will stop by the "Arc of Lovers", a natural rock arch created millions of years ago by the erosion of the sea whose shape recalls two elephants in the act of kissing. Up to not too long ago young couples used to get married on the top of it. A little later we will cruise in front of the ancient fishermen village of Conca dei Marini, passing near the villa of Sophia Loren and seeing the historic hotel “Il Saraceno” located on La Vite Beach. From here we will also have a stunning view of the Santa Rosa Monastery, a former convent now converted into a luxury hotel, once home of the Dominican nuns. It's right in the kitchens of this monastery that the delicious "Sfogliatella Santa Rosa" was born, a shell-shaped pastry filled with ricotta cheese-based cream and little dried fruit pieces, typical of the local culinary tradition (don't forget to taste it before leaving!). Once past the seaside of Conca dei Marini we will enter its western basin, where we will have a breathtaking view of Furore and Praiano villages and the islands of Li Galli and Capri, together with the well-known Faraglioni Rocks. We will reach then the famous Furore Fjord, the only natural fjord we have in Italy and location of the international diving competition "MarMeeting": every year in July, professional divers from around the world compete by jumping from the top of the bridge which is 28 meters high. Navigating little farther onward to the village of Praiano we will be able to have a close look of the Africana Grotto, a very large sea cave, where the water has a distinctive blue color thanks to the unique refraction of light. Finally we will go round the cape of Praiano, where we will anchor for a break and to go swimming or snorkeling as the warm hues that light up the sky reflect off the shimmering waters. The return trip to Amalfi will give us a different but equally remarkable view of both sea and land.

What people are saying about Amalfi

There was no option for snorkeling. In fact, I don’t believe he had any snorkeling gear on board. The snorkeling was our primary motivation for choosing this activity. There was also no option to stop at the Emerald Grotto, which was one of the key places we wanted to see. We were offered a stop on a couple of beaches. One was overcrowded. The other was tiny and looked dirty. So, we declined. The tour ended around 3pm. So, there was no possibility of a sunset on the water. All of that said, Andrea was great. He was very personable and spoke enough English to communicate well. We very much enjoyed the tour of the coast and his efforts to make it a good experience. He simply didn’t seem to know what all the description of the tour included. That was quite disappointing. So, contrary to the description of the activity, it was a boat ride along the coast and back. Nothing more. While we did enjoy it, I’m quite unhappy about the missing aspects of the trip. I feel misled.

The boat was nice and we felt safe and comfortable, however I think my expectations were a little different with what we would be able to do. We met up an hour after the scheduled pick up time, they contacted me via whatsapp for a slight delay but we actually met later than communicated. You first get dropped off at Amalfi to explore, the driver offered 2 hours but we asked for 1-1 1/2 hours since we wanted to spend more time in or on the water. We then went to get in the water in Santa Lucia, water was a bit choppy so it wasn't as great to swim in, I wish i had something to float on to enjoy something a bit more relaxing. The boat did offer snorkling goggles though so that was nice. We then had lunch on the beach as well, it was pretty good. The driver then drove us back to Positano sharing a few facts, I think i just assumed we would be offered to visit a Grotto or a different beach in addition. It was nice to have the boat to ourselves and get nice views of the coast.

This was the highlight of our entire trip in Italy!! Words can’t describe how amazing this private boat tour experience was along the Amalfi coast. Our boat captain Andrea let us plan the day as we pleased and gave us excellent recommendations. We started out in Positano admiring the views then got to have a private beach experience snorkelling with tons of fish. Then into Nerano where we had the best seafood at a restaurant on the water. We love to swim and snorkel and he took us to many amazing hidden gems. Truly a once in a life time experience! Huge shoutout to Andrea- thank you so much for the most amazing day we could’ve wished for, you were the best!

My wife and I traveled, it was a very good experience. The operator very friendly and professional. It is very worth knowing the places of the tour. It is a road with spectacular panoramic views. Very comfortable car. Overall it met our expectation.

We had such a great day on the boat! The guide was so kind and knowledgeable about the area and it’s surroundings. The boating company representatives were very kind and helpful from start to finish of this experience. Highly recommend!
