Full description
Enjoy a 4WD adventure in Europe’s only desert landscape on this 2-hour scenic drive through the Tabernas Desert, situated between the Sierra de los Filabres and the Sierra de Alhamilla. Boasting over 3,000 hours of sunshine per year, an annual rainfall of a mere 200 millimeters, and temperatures ranging from 23° F to 118° F (-5°C to 48°C), the gray tones of the desert’s gullies, ravines and other geological formations turn golden when the sun rests on them at sunset. Essential to the history of cinema in Almeria, Tabernas Desert served as a location for hundreds of movies, including “Lawrence of Arabia.” Dozens of spaghetti westerns, such as “A Fistful of Dollars, “For a Few Dollars More,” and “The Good, The Bad and The Ugly,” gave rise to an era of rampant shooting. Adventure stories war films, and science fiction films have all made use of the landscape, including “2001: A Space Odyssey,” “Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade,” and “Conan the Barbarian.” Marvel at the desert’s similarity to the American badlands, and the deserts of north Africa and Arabia. En route, you will learn about the geological formation of this extraordinary place, including the flora and fauna that somehow manage to survive there.

Excellent guide, during the course and the stops a lot of specific detail as to the origin and the history of this desert, between anecdote and of course of cinematographic reference. I highly recommend this guided excursion in French. my whole family, I have 2 big teenagers, enjoyed this activity. thanks to Christina (our guide)

Superb visit with Christina. Lots of information on both historical and geological landmarks. We have never been overwhelmed by information that is clear crisp precise. Only the heat was stifling. Unmissable guided tour of the region. Please note that this visit does not include the Western scenery, which are amusement parks with their own paid entry.

They have always treated us very well on getyourguide, and this time they did not let us down. You go out in a 4x4, everything is very well explained, they make sure that you are comfortable and once in the desert, we go forward and stop (we walk a little, there is only a very small slope, and they explain flora, fauna, rock formation, combined with movie shooting scenarios, which remind you with photos or tablet). The attentive and well-documented guide. He answered all the questions (and they were not few) and added interesting comments, and all with good humor. We were surprised by the variety of colors, limestone formations, landscape in general, since, being a desert, you expect more monotony. We were fascinated by the departure, which lasted a couple of hours, and we arrived very happy. I would not take children under 8 or 10 years old, more than anything because it is still difficult to awaken their interest, although perhaps the guides, if they have children of those ages, tell
