Through the plains of the Alentejo, reach the city of Évora. Evora's historic center is classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Learn about the events and history these walls have seen. After walking the medieval streets, take a very pleasant walk through the old town and stop at the most emblematic places: the Bones Chapel, the Church of S. Francisco, the Cathedral and the Roman Temple (the Temple of Diana). This tour has several optional stops, one of them is to visit the Adega da Cartuxa (this must be booked in advance), famous for the Pera Manca red wine, considered one of the best wines in Portugal. Local gastronomy is one of the great attractions of this region. Évora is the ideal place to be introduced to traditional Alentejo food, which features the famous porco preto (black pig), lamb, and locally baked bread.

Explore the cultural tapestry of Évora, capital of the province of Alentejo, and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Passing through a rustic landscape of olive and cork trees, journey 81 miles (130 km) south of Lisbon to reach the outer vineyards of this well-preserved treasure. Walk through the whitewashed Old Town to visit Évora's most famous landmark, the Roman Temple. Its large Corinthian columns date back to the first century, the era of Emperor Augustus. Another breathtaking stop will be the Cathedral of Évora, one of the most important Gothic monuments in Portugal. Then head to Saint Francis Church with the "Bones Chapel", or Capela dos Ossos, which is completely decorated with human bones. Don't miss the University of Évora, a former Jesuit college built by Cardinal-King Henrique in 1559. Afterwards, stroll through Évora market to admire the colorful and tasty ingredients used to create some of the Portugal's most marvelous dishes. In the afternoon, head to the Herdade do Esporão (near Reguengos de Monsaraz) to visit an important wine cellars in Portugal.

Your tour begins at 08:30 with a pick-up from your hotel/ apartment or cruise ship. This ensures enough time to enjoy your program without any hurry. This private tour is provided  with the objective of showing you the national monuments at Évora, an UNESCO World Heritage Site. Although there will be time to visit the inside of some selected monuments or attractions, it is never sufficient to visit all of them, so please inform your driver of your preferences and all arrangements will be made in order to fulfill your preferences. As this is a private tour, you will have the freedom to rearrange your tour as you see fit. A standard itinerary will follow this form. After the hotel pick-up, you will head directly to the southeast through one of Lisbon's emblematic bridges, driving directly to Évora, approximately a 1.5-hour drive. Once you arrive, visit the Almendres Chromlech, one of the oldest structures of this type on the Iberian Peninsula. Then, walk through the small city center to the main attractions such as the Roman Temple, cathedral, Bones Chapel, and Giraldo's Square (an approximately 1 to 2 kilometer walk to see all the main spots).  Lunch will be in one of the many restaurants in the city center. Afterwards, head to one of the estates in the area, where you can choose to have a tasting of the wines and olive oils produced there. After visiting the estate, head back to your accommodation for an approximately 5:30 PM arrival. If time allows, make a short stop at the Statue of Christ by the south bank of the river close to Lisbon for some of the most beautiful views of the city. Please note that the order of these visits may be altered due to lunch options and/or more favorable visiting hours for the attractions/ monuments.

Following a pick-up from your hotel in Lisbon, transfer by private vehicle to Evora. Admire the Tagus River Bay while crossing the Ponte Vasco da Gama (17 km long), one of the longest bridges in Europe. After a walk in the city, visit São Francisco church and the famous Chapel of Bones, Capela dos Ossos. The bones from the overflowing graveyards were used as part of the decoration of this small creepy chapel. Even the inscription on the entrance is ghoulish: "We bones await yours". Afterwards, go to the Praca do Giraldo, the main central square of Evora. During the day, open-air cafes, serve coffee and excellent food to the tourists who visit Evora. Another important attraction in Evora, are the Cork trees. Cisit Catedral Se, built between the 13th and 14th centuries, and one of the most important medieval cathedrals in the country, inspired by the Romanesque Cathedral in Lisbon. The temple regarded as the best-preserved roman structure on the Iberian Peninsula.  After lunch, enjoy a wine degustation with cheese and olives from this region before returning to Lisbon, by the Vasco da Gama Bridge, longest bridge in Europe.
