Full description
Start your tour at the Akhtala Monastery, a church from the 12th century which contains beautiful frescoes and is surrounded by copper smelting caves as well as a copper smelting factory. The second destination of the tour is the Haghpat Monastery, which is located in Haghpat Village and is a UNESCO-listed site. It is one of the most beautiful medieval masterpieces in Armenia, and one can't help but think that God's hand played a part in building such an incredible construction. You will then have the possibility to have lunch and try some traditional Armenian food. Following lunch, you'll make 3 stops on your way to visit the second UNESCO Heritage Site, Sanahin. The first will be a 13th-century bridge, the second for a Debed canyon with astonishing views, and the third for the Mikoyan Brothers' museum, where an original aircraft (MiG 21) will surprise you. You will finally travel back through the border to Tbilisi, where you will arrive at approximately 8:30 PM.

5 stars all around! Our guide, Ika was wonderful and knowledgeable. He was very informative about everything and easy to talk to. The drive wasn't so bad and the roads were only rocky in parts of Armenia. We started at 9am and got back at 7pm. Overall, the monasteries were nice to see and the highlight of the trip was our guide and the food! The homemade lunch was delicious and plentiful.

It was our first tour with "get your guide" and we were extremely pleasantly surprised. Problem-free meeting, advance information about the need for a PCR test and possibly a visa, problem-free meeting and then a breathtaking tour to the UNESCO World Heritage sites. Our competent and historically well-informed guide Beka provided support when crossing the border, which was also completely unproblematic with the right papers. Kudos to Beka, who brought us so close to Armenia and who is open to any additional photo stop you may want. We always felt safe with our driver George. Thank you both!! It is absolutely worth doing this day trip - we are still hell-bent on.

This was a great tour that exceeded my expectations. Nika (guide) and Misho (driver) were wonderful. Nika spoke excellent English and was very entertaining and knowledgeable of all of the sites we visited. Misha was a superb driver, successfully minimizing the "Armenian massage" effects of the rough road surfaces and potholes. The tour is a very interesting mix of historic monasteries, decayed and grim industrial landscape, spectacular natural mountain/canyon landscapes and excellent food. Highly recommended and great value.
