DAY 1: Cusco - Abra Málaga - Huamanmarca - Santa María or Santa Teresa (overnight depending on option chosen) Pickup from your accommodation in Cusco between 6:00 - 6:30 AM. Transfer to the highest point, Abra Malaga, at an altitude of 4316 m, from where you will descend by bike for 3 hours, passing streams and vegetation until you reach Huamanmarca. Then, you will be transferred to the town of Santa María, to have a typical lunch and free time to explore coca and coffee plants with your guide. You can choose to add on a rafting adventure available at an additional cost (Level II, III and IV). If you choose the 3-day option, you will continue the route until you reach the thermal baths of Cocalmayo in Santa Teresa, which are medicinal and therapeutic waters. After relaxing, continue in a 40-minute walk to the town of Santa Teresa where you will overnight in a family lodging. If you choose the 4-day option, you will have free time until dinner time in Santa María, and will overnight. DAY 2 for 4-day option: Santa María - Quellomayo - Termas de Cocalmayo - Santa Teresa Start the hike with a gradual climb for 3 hours. This area is tropical and you will appreciate organic products of different varieties such as coffee, cocoa, avocado and medicinal plants. Along the way you will also appreciate natural attractions such as the "El Velo de Nusta" waterfall, before reaching the highest pass of the day called "Pastogrande" at 1900 meters. Stop for lunch at Islayunca. Continue to the unexplored waterfall "Gonzales", then walk 2.5 hours so you can enjoy the hot springs of Cocalmayo in Santa Teresa, which have medicinal and therapeutic waters. After relaxing, continue on a 40-minute walk to the town of Santa Teresa where you will overnight in a family lodging. DAY 2 for 3-day option / DAY 3 for 4-day option: Santa Teresa - Hydroelectric - Aguas Calientes After a typical breakfast, you can choose to add on a zipline adventure after your breakfast. In this case, after the activity, you will be taken by transport to the beginning of the trail to Aguas Calientes at Hydroelectric. If you skip the zipline, you will be taken straight to Hydroelectric. S tart a walk on the train tracks through a native jungle to Aguas Calientes, about a 3 hours trek. Upon arrival in Aguas Calientes, enjoy lunch. At Aguas Calientes, your guide will show you to your accommodation. Have dinner in a restaurant and plan with the guide for the next day's visit to Machu Picchu. Overnight in Aguas Calientes. DAY 3 for 3-day option / DAY 4 for 4-day option: Aguas Calientes - Machu Picchu - Hydroelectric - Cusco Get up early in the morning at 4:30 AM to start the walk towards Machu Picchu, the Lost City of the Incas. The steep walk up will last approximately 1.5 hours, and the objective is to appreciate the sunrise from the Inca citadel and be the first to arrive. The walk up to Machu Picchu requires a good physical condition — you can also choose to add on a bus to Machu Picchu, if you don't want to do the walk. Enjoy a 2-hour guided tour of Machu Picchu and the surrounding sites. Enjoy free time to take photos and look around the citadel. If you chose one of the extra hikes to one of the mountains, you will split ways with the group to go by yourself to Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu mountain. You can choose to add on these hikes at the checkout. Leave Machu Picchu and return to Aguas Calientes (walking or by bus, depending on if you choose add-on at checkout). Once in Aguas Calientes, start the walk back to Hydroelectric where your guide will be waiting to gather the group to return to the city of Cusco — again, you can choose to add on a train to Hydroelectric at the checkout, if you don't want to do the walk. Be back in Cusco around 9:30 - 10:00 PM. The drop-off will be in San Francisco square in the historic center, near Plaza de Armas. Please have in mind this is a budget-friendly tour and does not include the train back to Cusco. Distance traveled by car/van from Hydroelectric to Cusco is approximately 5 to 6 hours.

Experience two full days exploring the National Park of Machu Picchu. Travel to to the hydroelectric plant and witness the surrounding mountain scenery as you drive by. Enjoy a walk or trainride into the town of Aguas Calientes. Wake and walk to the archeological site and take a 2-hour guided tour. Begin traveling to the Machu Picchu hydroelectric plant, and marvel at the beautiful landscape as the bus travels through the mountains and into the cloud forest. Arrive at Santa Tereza to stop for lunch, and then continue on to the Machu Picchu National Park. Enter the National Park of Machu Picchu and enjoy an unguided walk along the well marked train tracks for two hours to reach the town of Aguas Calientes, or skip the walk and choose to add the option of a train ride. Meet the guide in the main plaza upon arrival in Aguas Calientes. Learn more about the town and the meeting point for dinner. Receive information about the next day's activities and return to the hotel to sleep and prepare for another day of excitement and exploration. Wake up packed and excited for a walk from Machu Picchu town to the archaeological site. Choose the option to skip the one hour walk and add a bus ride. Enjoy a two hour guided tour inside the archaeological site. Opt to hike or bus to the hydroelectric station where the return bus will be waiting. Take in the scenery on a peaceful five hour ride back to Cusco.

3. From Cusco: 5-Day Salkantay Trek to Machu Picchu

Day 1 Cusco – Mollepata – Challacancha – Soraypampa Take an early ride from Cusco to Mollepata. Wake up to the panoramic views of Salkantay, and the magestic mountains of the Apurimac River Valley. Hike up the tall Sayllapata, and ascend ever higher towards the small Soraypampa villages reaching up to 3 850 meters above sea level. Day 2 Soraypampa – Salkantay Pass – Huayracpunku - Chaullay Lose yourself in the majestic Peruvian Highlands. As you pass the snow capped Salkantay take a better look at it and its adjacent mountains Humantay and Huayanay. The valleys here are laced with rivers, lakes, and moraines. After a long day, take a much needed lunch break in Huayrachpunku, and then head down to  Collpapampa where you will be camping. Day 3 Chaullay – Collpapampa – La Playa – Santa Teresa (Cocalmayo Hot Spring) Cross the path from Chaullay to Playa Sahuayaco. On your way pass Collpabamba, a paradise complete with waterfalls, thermal hot springs, fruit-bearing trees, varied flora and many magnificent birds. Finish a long day of walking with a leisurely evening in Santa Teresa, and its luxurious hot springs. Day 4 Santa Teresa – Hidroelectryc – Aguas Calientes Follow the trail to the small village of Colpani. As you walk you will see the luscious coffee, banana, and passion fruit plantations. Trace the banks of the Vilcanota River until you arrive at a break in the woods. Hike the rest of the way, or take a small car to Hidroelectirca. From Hidroelectrica you will be able to see views of the Machu Picchu sanctuary. Spend the night at Aguas Calientes, dipping in the famous hot springs, or taking a stroll around the town. Day 5 Aguas Calientes – Machu Picchu – Ollantaytambo – Cusco Arrive at Machu Picchu early in the morning and enjoy an intimate tour of the ruins with your professional guide. Explore the citadel on your own. If you have a sense of adventure you may go up the Huaynapicchu mountain or climb the taller face of Machu Picchu. You will return to Cusco late in the evening.

4. Cusco: 2-Day Machu Picchu by Tourist Train

Your day will begin as you are picked up from your hotel at around 4:00AM in the morning. From there, take the 6:10AM train to Ollantaytambo where you will transferred to Hot Waters, arriving by around 8:00AM. There your guide will be waiting for you with a sign stating your name to take you to your hotel. Following breakfast, meet with the group at 10:00AM to take the bus to the guided in the sanctuary of Machu Picchu. Meet your guide there who will teach you the history, including how Machu Picchu was built. At the end of your tour you can decide whether to go for lunch or travel back to your hotel to relax. Later in the afternoon you can explore the city to discover a little more about it, with the thermal baths or the museum popular among visitors. The next day you'll get up at 6:00AM for breakfast after which you take the train back to Ollantaytambo. Upon your arrival to Ollantaytambo your local partner will be waiting to transport you back to Cusco. Once back in Cusco, your guide will drop you off to the main square of the city.
