Full description
The Galleria dell'Accademia di Firenze is best known as the home of Michelangelo's sculpture David. Admire other sculptures by Michelangelo and a large collection of paintings by Florentine artists, mostly from the period 1300-1600, the Trecento to the Late Renaissance. Your locally qualified guides will introduce you to this museum and show you works of art created by important masters of the Renaissance, with a special focus on David and other sculptures by Michelangelo. Also discover the "Hall of the prisoners". It is an area in this gallery that takes its name from the four large sculptures of male nudes known as the prisoners (or the “slaves”) that were designed by Michelangelo for the tomb of Pope Julius II, and you will definitely discover a lot more on this informative guided tour.

We had Marco as a guide to the academia museum. This was a great way to skip the line, for tickets and get into the museum. Our guide was great, he was very knowledgeable, and gracefully lead us through crowded spaces. We hit the highlights as a group and then had time to go about the museum on our own. We were able to buy tickets the day before and would have otherwise not been able to get in without waiting in huge lines.

Amazing guide and worth every penny!

I thought seeing David would be underwhelming, but honestly, it was one of our favorite things we did in Florence. It was made better because our guide was SO great. He explained all of the noteworthy pieces of art in the museum, in addition to David. We learned so much and also didn’t have to wait in the line to get in. Worth every penny!

The tour guide Marco was very friendly and gave good historic information. The tour ended in about 35 minutes, when it said 1 hour. Overall, it was good, just pricey for the amount of time.
