Skirts and trousers should be knee-length or longer, and women should avoid tight-fitting clothes. Cleavage, midriff and upper arms should be covered. Shorts are only allowed on the beach and while bikinis are permitted, topless sunbathing is prohibited.
During the Islamic holy month of Ramadan, eating and drinking in public is strictly forbidden. However, most hotels and clubs will serve food and beverages to foreigners. Over Ramadan, visitors should consider dressing extra conservatively outdoors.
Even though the weather in Abu Dhabi is generally very hot, it's a good idea to carry a jacket or sweater around with you, as indoor areas can get quite chilly due to air-conditioning.

What people are saying about Abu Dhabi
We booked this for our first day in Abu Dhabi, not realising how tired we'd be from the flight out. After a quick power nap in our hotel, we dragged ourselves to the harbour in the scorching heat, feeling reluctant about whether we'd enjoy it. After being warmly greeted by our captain, we soon found our senses lifted as the fresh sea air cut through the hot, humid day. With the wind blowing in our faces, and the occasional splash of salty sea spray, we had an absolute blast. If you're looking for the best view of Abu Dhabi's coastline, along with a splash of excitement, I highly recommend this experience... Thank you for such a great start to our holiday!
We did this from Abu Dhabi and can't say much more than thoroughly enjoyed it. Picked up from hotel, 4wd to the desert where we mingled with camels, 4wd over the sand dunes which was so much fun on the way to the camp. At the camp they had free activities such as camel riding, sand boarding, henna tattooing and Shisha smoking (don't smoke but was was an experience). Also you can do Quad biking at an additional cost. All water, soft drinks tea coffee included, and just extra cost for alcohol. Big Bbq dinner buffet included and plenty of food and choices. A show and belly dancing. Overall a great afternoon/evening and I think a must do if you have time.
We were picked up on time and taken to our vehicle for transport to Abu Dhabi and Hamid was very constructive in pointing out everything en route. The mosque was our first visit and my wife and the other female guests were supplied with very decorative black dress which was a cut above other tour operators, so well done to you. Each place we visited was awesome and any visitor could see the results of the oil dollar. I would recommend your company to anyone who were thinking about doing the trip to Abu Dhabi.
The delightful driver was on time so beware if you think you might not have to wait. First we went to the camel farm and fed the animals, then sand bashing, take travel sickness pills if you suffer, then sand surfing. At the farm where the camel rides took place there was an amazingly clean and working loo area. I do suffer from travel sickness really badly but the driver was very sweet and considerate. The whole expedition was extremely well run and efficient. Would recommend.
A great day trip to Abu Dhabi!!! Everything perfectly organized and very well explained by the tour guide Noor. Through him you get to know everything worth knowing about the very impressive buildings in very good English. We also liked the "small" travel group of only 6 people, as the day was much more personal. All in all a top excursion to get an impression of this city!
