    1. Tuscany Taster Tour: Day Trip from Rome with Lunch & Wine

A comfortable, air-conditioned coach will pick you up in Rome. As you leave the city behind for rolling hills, your expert, English-speaking tour guide will fill you in on Tuscany’s rich culture and answer any questions you might have about the day ahead.  First is a walking tour in the hill town of Montepulciano, led by a local expert guide, taking in an ancient but still-functioning wine cellar and ruins that pre-date Rome. Next is San Biagio, a picturesque church resting below the town at the point where the Val d’Orcia fades into the Val di Chiana. In the midst of a breathtaking landscape overlooking the Tuscan hills, the classic-style church, with its travertine facade welcoming in the sunlight, is a 16th-century Renaissance masterpiece with exquisite decorations inside. Just a short drive away is the highlight of any trip to Tuscany: lunch. In the wine cellar of an authentic vine...

Easy to meeting point, great guide (Jon), lunch was excellent, wine excellent ( my only gripe was small amounts) but great quality.

Highly recommend this tour! We had a great day going to three selected and very different wineries. Our guide Daniele shared his knowledge and passion about wine in general and the Montalcino region in particular with us. The highlight of the day was our homemade lunch at a small family run winery where the hosts made us feel like being friends rather than visitors. Overall, the tour was very informative and enjoyable!

  • Montalcino Wine Tasting 1-Day Tour from Umbria

    5. Montalcino Wine Tasting 1-Day Tour from Umbria

On this 1-day tour you discover the famous wine of Montalcino. Brunello di Montalcino wine is made from Sangiovese, a grape traditionally called “Brunello” in Montalcino. The wine must spend at least 2 years in wooden casks and at least 4 months of aging in the bottle. The retention period in the bottle extends to up to 6 months for the reserve that comes on the market a year later. Discover the history of Montalcino. The hill upon which Montalcino sits has had settlers since the Etruscan times. Its first mention in historical documents in 814 AD suggests that there was a church here in the 9th century, most likely built by monks associated with the nearby Abbey of Sant'Antimo. The population grew suddenly in the middle of the 10th century, when people fleeing the nearby town of Roselle took up residence in the town.
