Full description

Choose to begin your tour on Bruny Island or from Hobart. Cruise by some of Australia's highest sea cliffs and drift up close to listen to the awesome Breathing Rock.

Enter deep-sea caves, pass through the narrow gap between the coast and The Monument, and feel the power of nature where the Tasman Sea meets the might of the Southern Ocean.

On this 3-hour activity, you’ll search for wildlife such as seals, dolphins, migrating whales, and sea birds with an interpretive guide. At the Friars, drift quietly past rare nesting seabirds and a large haul-out home to thousands of seals.

The custom-built yellow boats feature open-air tiered seating providing excellent all-round views. After the cruise, enjoy time to explore Bruny Island.

This tour is a fabulous way to see the Bruny Island coastline. Being right up close to the sheer jagged cliffs, inside a cave, among the the kelp, splashed by sea spray at the blowhole (or from the waves!!) or getting up close and personal to the sea lions, this Pennicott cruise has something for everyone. From the staff at the centre who welcome you to the Island, to the crew of the boat who welcome you aboard, you get a sense that they all love what they are doing and want you to enjoy your experience with them. Long oilskin coats are handed out to all the passengers to protect their clothing, for those that might suffer from seasickness, ginger tablets are passed around before setting out, and on the return journey a little chocolatey treat is offered as well. We had Michael as our ‘skipper’ and Ben as ‘first mate’. Both were informative, funny, and considerate of their passengers at all times. Our party of 4 adults thoroughly enjoyed this tour and would highly recommend it

Awesome adventure. Stunning scenery and a fun boat ride. Do not miss this if you are going to Bruny. The coastline from a boat is quite unique and the guides get you in nice and close for a good look. The ocean side of the island is very interesting and I got some great photos to take away.

This is a once in a lifetime experience and a must-do activity if you visit Bruny Island. The scenery was spectacular and we saw lots of wildlife, including seals and many types of sea birds. The crew really looked after us and were very attentive to our comforts. The commentary was also very informative. The anti sea-sick tablets we were handed out before our boat trip started was a very practical, as the swell can be quite high and the sea quite rough, especially where the Tasman Sea meets the Great Southern Ocean. Make sure you wear layers of clothes because the wind-chill factor can be 10 degrees Celsius colder than at Adventure Bay. You will be provided with a full length red wind/water-proof jacket which is essential for your comfort but it is recommended you take a woolly hat and gloves as well. The Tim Tam we were given at the end of the trip was a nice touch!
