Full description

Nimes, founded in the 1st century by the veterans of the Gallic Legion, is often referred to as the French Rome. Visit its amphitheater and Maison Carrée, a small Roman temple. These monuments rank among the best-preserved monuments of the Roman Empire.

The Roman Antique Theater of Orange is without doubt one of the finest remnants of the Roman Empire. Part of the UNESCO World Heritage list, it is the best-preserved theater in Europe. Admire the Triumphal Arch of Orange of Provincial Roman art. Take a short drive through the Mediterranean scrubland or garrigue to the quaint medieval town of Uzes, the first duchy in France. You’ll have some free time here to wander around the picturesque town.

Afterwards, visit the Pont du Gard, a Roman aqueduct built in the 1st century to provide water to the fountains and baths in Nimes.

We loved the trip, it was exiting to see these old buildings, and our guide was very well informed, nice and gave us very good tips on where to go when we had free time:-) I would recommend this to anybody interested in Roman times and impressive buildings. We choose it for Pont du Gard, but Usez and Nimes have made just as much an impression on us.
