Full description
Let yourself envision the grandeur and theatricality of the world-renowned operas that passed through Venice's Teatro La Fenice. Founded at the close of the 18th century, La Fenice quickly became the go-to theatre for the opulent premiers of some of the most famous operas in the world, including Rossini’s "Tancredi," "Sigismondo," and "Semiramide," Bellini’s "The Capulets and the Montagues," and "Beatrice di Tenda," and many more. Nowadays, the beautiful theatre is placing special emphasis on contemporary productions, welcoming the world premieres of Stravinski’s "The Rake’s Progress," and Britten’s "The Turn of the Screw," amongst others. With a seating capacity for over 1,000 people, La Fenice boasts excellent acoustics, a 98-member orchestra and 66-person opera chorus, a dedicated local audience and a large international following.

Good 1hr tour around the Theatre. Lots of info on the histroy and a guide around. Well worth the extra money to have a person showing you about than just an audioguide, although audioguide would be still a well worth experience for added flexibility. Got shown about and got the see the royal box/ few other boxes. Very relaxed tour. No need to spend more than 1hr

This is a beautiful place and well worth a visit. We had trouble finding the meeting place and was 10 minutes late but the guide had waited for us. Unfortunately I did not catch her name but she was very knowledgeable and was able to answer all question the party asked. We were able to visit the royal box and take a look at tbe view from there. The Fenice is an outstanding place and the ceiling complete with clock is truly special - it must be something special when a performance is on.

After a slow start (some miscommunication on where to meet) we got to go in. Our guide (young, long hair -can't remember her name) recovered well from being flustered and gave us great information! Our 4 kids (a string quartet from Australia) were lucky enough to perform a quick piece on the stage -fulfilling a bucket list dream and our guide was helpful and supportive. The Theatre is amazing -smaller than we thought- and absolutely beautiful. Unfortunately we couldn't see the upstairs rooms (as something was on?) and obviously you're not allowed to see back stage either. So really, it's only the entrance and the Theatre itself (including the Royal seats) that you're allowed to see.
