Full description

Discover the third largest geothermal field in the world and the largest in the southern hemisphere in the Atacama Desert. At 4,200 meters (13,780 feet) above sea level, the Tatio Geysers are a natural marvel that will take your breath away, in more ways than one.

Leave early in the morning, before sunrise, after pickup from your hotel. Arrive at the geysers early to have the opportunity to observe the contrast between the sunrise and the steam from the heat of the magma-affected waters.

After sunrise, savor a complete breakfast with bread, cheese, ham, scrambled eggs, coffee, chocolate, milk, and jam. Once you've eaten, spend some more time exploring the 80 geysers around the national park.

From there, ride through the Putana Valley. See endemic flora and fauna and stop at a lagoon to see flamingos before returning to your hotel.

It really is a different and wonderful experience. Although it takes effort and what it means to get up very early and ascend to 4200 meters directly, it is worth the effort. for those who have never been at altitude, it might be good to acclimatize beforehand. I recommend dressing up a lot.

We thought our driver got us there a little too late to appreciate the dawn, approx 30 mins. We were told pick up at 4.30 but it did not pick up till 5 and there was another 6 pick up locations plus stopping for bread and at another location. We were the last tour bus to arrive and the sun was already over the hill.

Had a pretty good time, although it is expensive ($50,000 totally). The geysers were cool and we saw flamengos at a lagoon and overall I had a good time. Our guide, Theresa, was fantastic and spoke good English, I think the tour is worth it even though it is slightly expensive
