Full description

Visit the Auschwitz-Birkenau Memorial Museum and explore at your own pace on a self-guided tour. Enjoy the confidence of a pre-booked ticket and transfer from Krakow. Leave Krakow for a confrontational day of reflection with a visit to the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camps. The camps are a ceremonial place that leaves an indelible impression on all visitors and are also an important monument to the victims of the Holocaust. Funded by the Nazi party in 1940, Auschwitz-Birkenau became both a symbol of human suffering and a witness to physical and emotional exhaustion. As the largest concentration camp served by the Nazis, it became the final resting place of millions of people, mainly Jews, who were killed in hideous gas chambers. After arriving at the museum, collect a free admission ticket with the help of your tour leader and pick up an informational booklet. Spend approximately 2 hours of free time in the Auschwitz I Museum. Take a short break and spend about 1 hour in the Auschwitz-Birkenau II Museum. After a total of 3 hours in both museums, the tour leader will be waiting for you in the same place in the parking lot to take you back to Krakow.

Our guide Anna was incredible. I know it’s her job but she really did know her stuff! She gave us so much information and stories just off the top of her head including dates with no notes or anything and I was stunned. The entire trip was organised and informative and pretty much stuck to the timings advertised. The only negative I have and this isn’t down to the company at all and I know there’s little that can be done to stop this but I was really disappointed at the amount of photos people were taking especially in places that were strictly not allowed as we were told before entering certain areas. I think it’s highly disrespectful but I do realise there’s little that can be done to completely prohibit this and it doesn’t take away from the 10/10 job the tour company did and Anna herself.

HI. We actually booked a self guided tour however because of the COVID situation we had a guide. I have to say having been with a guide I think I would always book with a guide. The guide was sensational, huge knowledge and we could never have earned what we learned without our guide.
