A group tour (4 other parties joined us on a Thursday), the tour picked us up from our airbnb, and we made a couple of special stops along the way to Quilotoa (bathroom and breakfast break, fruit stands to purchase fruit for our lunch), and the views to Quilotoa were amazing. Quilotoa itself was gorgeous, but my party didn't venture down to the bottom because of concerns of elevation sickness, so we chose the hike around the rim (still a strenuous but rewarding experience, my dad slid and fell a couple of times, no major injuries other than his pride). The varieties of flowers and animals around made for excellent pictures. We ended the tour with a nice meal at a local hostel and then a quiet ride back. Carlos (our guide) and Hector (our driver, but also a guide for us while we hiked the rim) were fantastic, enthusiastic and knowledgeable. Much recommended!
I had a mishap with getting an Uber and was not able to meet the group that morning. They really bent over backwards to make special arrangements to meet me when I was finally able to get there hours later. My host, Daniel, was very friendly and informative. He told us a lot of local legends that I would never had heard on my own. I have seen several bad reviews but I’m a solo female traveler and a first time international traveler and I am so glad I did this tour!! I have nothing but good things to say.
It was absolutely worth it! The guide was super friendly and did a great job, he always tried to fulfill every single wish of the customers :) I would definitely recommend it, especially when you consider the low price!
